Don’t worry, the Crimean Saga will pick back up in August, but for now it’s time for our monthly art lesson. This year we got a full-on, classic July here in Middle Russia: all month long and for another week to come the temperatures have been breaking 30C (it’s toasty 34C today – nearly 100F), with sunny skies and barely-there breeze, not a drop of rain in sight. But I’m not complaining. For one, I love hanging out on Moscow beaches, swimming in the river, and eating shashlyk. And as the days have gotten shorter – it is dark by 10 pm now – I am being reminded that autumn is just around the corner. Time to soak up the sun!

That third one totally looks like a photograph!
You should look at it up-close! (click on it – the full-size version is impressive)
Shishkin was a genius and my all-time favorite artist by a mile.
I thought that too!
That’s it, I am gonna have to plan a Shishkin mini-exhibit here.
The last one is my favorite. Bridging city and country life.
That;s a monastery in the forest….
Let me have my fantasy!
I thought the oak grove was a photograph too! Wow! I did zoom in after your suggestion. Impressive.
The artist is amazing. I have been carefully nurturing a little fan club of his here on this blog 😉
As for weather I live right near the recent wildfire in the neigboring to Moscow,Tver region(Konakovo area). The hot weather caused the peat fire which was transformated to wildfire fast. The whole recent two days a lot of emeregency helicopters with water tanks and Be 200 planes are buzzing above my town.Fortunatly Volga flows nearby, emergency work well and the wind blowing to the opposite direction(towards Moscow) but sometimes the smoke cover our town. The wildfire was extinguished by the emergencies but the peat is still smoking.
Many people afraid of crisis 2010 when there were a lot of wildfires because of hot weather.
Meanwhile in Siberia there are a lot of rains causing the local floods. My mother returned from her Altay village trip two weeks ago.The normal weather for Siberia during the summer is 35C but now it is near 15C.
The weather is really going mad.
Oh that’s horrible – I had no idea that it was happening again, and so close to Moscow. We do need some rain soon!
As for now it is raining here. There were also two Be 200 planes taking water in Volga and droping it above the woods. The smell of smoke dissapeared but It can be because of wind which can redirect smok towards Moscow.
‘we interrupt this program to bring you pretty paintings.’ hehe I love the terrace one with the reds and the pashminas…I can picture us there having proper mimosas.
Hahaha that’s exactly it!
I need to have a “lifestyle”-themed art post once just for you!
Mimosas (or crazy shots) at a dacha summer house sounds perfect!
